In 2026, the individual contribution maximum for local elections is to $1,429.70. This limit includes monetary donations, loans, and the value of donated goods or services. Donations to City Council and School Board campaigns are subject to separate contribution limits.
Campaign contributions can be made by individuals who are:
- Residents of British Columbia
- Canadian citizens or permanent residents.
Organizations, businesses, unions and other groups cannot make campaign contributions. Donations must be made using your own money and cannot be reimbursed by someone else.
